Hello, this is my writing 105 site

This spring quarter I had the opportunity to work on three multimedia projects through a class, writing 105m. In the first project, I learned how to use Adobe Photoshop and created an image of a futuristic ocean where things are taken over by plastic. In the second project, I learned how to use Adobe Illustrator and Canva; by using both I created an infographic about microplastics in the oceans with my own clipart. In the third project, I learned how to use juxtapose, story map, timeline, twine, and other tools in the knight lab. For the third project, I created a story map of the contemporary environmental movement. Although I learned a lot about how to use all these programs and how they work, I also learned so much more.

My biggest takeaway from these three projects was a lesson in communication. I had only ever used essays, slides, and other forms of writing in my classes. The biggest challenge I had was always how to communicate my message to my audience without words. One realization I came to was that sometimes I have to leave things up for interpretation. I also learned that keeping a smaller and more specific audience makes communication much easier. Overall, I learned that communication through multimedia can often be more difficult but also more effective. Moving forward, I hope to implement everything I learned in this class in my other classes. For example, by adding effective multimedia to google slide presentations, or creating visual abstracts. This has been one of my favorite classes and I hope I have the opportunity to further my multimedia skills.
